Jewellery Care
Sterling silver will naturally oxidise through contact with the air. The best way to keep your pieces shiny is by wearing them, but if they need cleaning up, use a silver polishing cloth to buff the surface.
If the tarnish is very dark, line a bowl with kitchen foil, add baking soda and boiling water and soak the silver until the tarnish is removed. Please note this will also remove any dark oxidation that may be on your piece intentionally!
Gold vermeil should not be worn in water or overnight to preserve the gold layer. High contact points will wear to reveal the silver beneath over time and may need replating eventually to restore the original colour.
Solid gold will not tarnish in the same way silver does but lower carats especially may still need a gentle cloth polish from time to time. It can happliy be soaked in warm water with a mild soap and gently scrubbed with a soft brush.
If you would prefer to have any of my gold plated or silver pieces made in solid gold instead this can be arranged! Use the contact form to get in touch
